Instructional Strategies
InTASC Standard 8: The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways.
Introduction
I use instructional strategies to make my classroom content come alive for my students. In my classroom, I use a plethora of Instructional strategies in my classroom to transform learning away from traditional euro-centric values. I want my students to create their own meaning and utilize their vast knowledge and experiences to make personal connections with the content. I scaffold learning activities to ensure that all students can access the learning, as we progress through the unit the activities become more rigorous and students are challenged to not only know the content but to be able to apply it. By leveraging how my students experience and apply new content, through instructional strategies, it transforms their learning experience and leads to a deep understanding of content.

Conclusion
By implementing a variety of instructional strategies in my classroom I keep students engaged and interested and give them the opportunity to practice and develop skills that they can use outside the classroom. Each instructional activity transforms how my students interact with scientific content and develop a deep understanding and enduring understanding while challenging demonstrate and apply their knowledge. As I progress in my teaching practice I am learning about new instructional strategies that I can implement in my classroom. Over time I hope to continue to add new strategies to my repertoire so that I can continue to leverage these strategies to help students develop a deep understanding of class content and apply it in a meaningful way.
